Kevin Garnett reveals Kobe Bryant's death pushed him to mend relationship with Ray Allen

Kevin Garnett has never been known as the forgiving type. He still has not allowed his jersey to be retired by the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a longstanding feud with their outgoing owner, Glen Taylor, and that isn't even his most famous beef. That honor belongs to former teammate Ray Allen. Allen and Garnett spent five seasons together with the Boston Celtics and won the 2008 NBA championship in their first season as teammates. However, Allen left the Celtics in 2012 to sign with the Miami Heat, Boston's chief rival at the time. The Celtics had just lost to LeBron James and the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, so the wound was fresh. For quite some time, the relationship remained frosty. But Allen attended Garnett's jersey retirement ceremony last season, and the relationship was finally confirmed to have been repaired when they hugged on the stage and Garnett said that Allen should be the...

Celtics' Jayson Tatum takes nasty fall from flagrant foul after dunking on Wolves' Rudy Gobert

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has had a rough time shooting the ball lately. Entering Wednesday night, he was 30-of-93 (32.2 percent) from 3-point land since play resumed after the All-Star break. That trend continued in the Celtics' 104-102 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, as he went 0-of-8 from behind the arc.  When you can't get anything to go from the outside, you're taught to get to the basket for a higher-percentage look, and Tatum did so in emphatic fashion in the middle of the third quarter. The Celtics ran a designed play to get Tatum cutting toward the basket, and Marcus Smart found him with a smooth bounce pass through traffic. All Tatum had to do at that point was catch the ball and explode to the rim.  The result was one of the best dunks of the season, as Tatum put Rudy Gobert on a poster. LeBron James is promoting his son, Bronny, straight from LaVar Ball's playbook... and it appears to be working

LeBron James isn't playing for the Lakers right now, but he's still making Twitter waves. On Monday, after apparently watching some NBA basketball that he found to be hilariously inept, he tweeted the following: "Man Bronny definitely better than some of these cats I've been watching on league pass today. Shit lightweight hilarious." He followed that last sentence with four laughing emojis. Bronny, of course, would be LeBron's 18-year-old son who isn't even considered a five-star high school player by the majority of recruiting services, but apparently he's already "definitely" better than multiple NBA players.  Man Bronny definitely better than some of these cats I've been watching on league pass today. Shit lightweight hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣 — LeBron James (@KingJames) March 7, 2023 LeBron is taking a page straight out of the LaVar Ball...

Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks reignites feud with Draymond Green, Warriors: 'I don't like anything to do with them'

Memphis Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks, who picked up his league-leading 16th technical foul on Friday night and will now be suspended for his team's Game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, is one of the toughest defenders and most controversial figures in the league. He ensured the latter would not change in a new interview with ESPN, in which he made his feelings for the Golden State Warriors and forward Draymond Green crystal clear.  "I don't like Draymond at all," Brooks said. "I just don't like Golden State. I don't like anything to do with them. Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too. His Game is cool -- with Golden State -- but if you put him anywhere else, you're not going to know who Draymond is. He plays with heart, plays hard, knows the ins and outs of their defense. I guess that's why they like him over there." Green, for his part, chose no...

LeBron James injury update: Lakers star will not require surgery on his injured foot, per report

LeBron James will not require surgery on his injured right foot Turner Sports ' Chris Haynes reported Thursday. Previously, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that James would be reevaluated in two weeks, but is expected to be sidelined for longer than that. CBS Sports ' Bill Reiter confirmed this and reported that his timeline could depend on where the Los Angeles Lakers are in the standings after that two-week checkpoint.  The 38-year-old superstar hurt his foot during the third quarter of Sunday's win against the Dallas Mavericks, but stayed in the Game and finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists. James helped the Lakers erase a 27-point deficit and earn their biggest come-from-behind victory in 21 years, but, shortly thereafter, the good vibes disappeared. This is not a team that can afford to be without James for an extended period of time. With James out of the lineup, L...

Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson Jr. stat controversy, explained: Reddit sparks discussion with betting implications

Jaren Jackson Jr. has become a popular pick for Defensive Player of the Year over the past several weeks. Before Saturday, he had become the favorite to win the award at every major Sports book, with odds at some dipping below minus-200. When CBS Sports made our mid-season awards picks , seven of eight voters chose Jackson as the Defensive Player of the Year. Several other notable outlets followed suit. And then, on Saturday morning, a lengthy post gained traction on Reddit. The thread, by user u/ADMassive6666, was titled "Memphis Grizzlies scorekeeper posting fraudulent numbers." The post itself alleged that the scorekeeper working Grizzlies home Game s was artificially inflating Jackson's block and steal numbers, which, in turn, fueled the momentum behind Jackson's Defensive Player of the Year campaign. Soon after, Caesars Sportsbook removed Defensive Player of the Year odds from the board. Ot...
